Volunteers Quilting Souls Together

July 12, 2012 1 comment

I got to speak with Debbie Turner today.

Quilting Souls Together

Debbie leads the Portland chapter of Quilts of Valor on the second Tuesday of each month.

Here is a bunch of volunteers joining together to create quilts for servicemen or veterans touched by war.  It is an gentle way to help heal a brave heart.

Debbie was surprised by the overwhelming support.  This Tuesday will only be the second time they have met, but already there are over 70 people signed up for her newsletter wanting to stay informed.

And the club is already near full.

Yet, there is always a need for quilters, materials, fabric, Long-arm Machines and even money.

There is nothing about politics in this.  This is about relationships and compassion.  As well as joining in a community of quilters for a wonderful cause.

As of today:  Iraq 4483 killed

Quilts of Valor

Afghanistan  1849 killed.

There is a need for hurting souls and families.

This week, Quilts of Valor have awarded 232 quilts to servicemen or veterans.

And they have helped create 67125 quilts since it’s inception.

There is also a chapter in West Linn at HollyHill Quilt Shoppe.

If you feel lead to volunteer, quilt, donate fabric, materials, long-arm machines, or even money… please contact Debbie Turner at bfruitful@me.com.

Everyone is welcome.

Many blessings my quilted souls… may your love be sewn in the threads of our lives.

SS.

PS, Leave a comment of the name of someone you know who’s a servicemen past or present.  Then like this post.
