How Do You Rescue Women In The Sex Slave Trade?

I know, this is not what you want to see in a Sewing blog, but there is more than meets the eye here.Image

Some friends of mine are in Thailand for July.  They were awarded a trip by Janome to visit a factory in Thailand and have a vacation for a few days.  They decided to turn it into a fact finding trip and are joint venturing into a Thai charity that is keeping girls from the sex slave trade.

In Thailand, when a family cannot feed the kids, they sell their 7 or 8 y.o. girl to become part of the sex slave trade.  The price helps the family get by.  And in the extreme poverty of the country this becomes a lucrative business.

But my friends are joining with others to create options for these girls.  If the parents are not able to provide for their children, there will be a learning center to take them too.

They will be able to be fed, clothed and learn a trade.

Like sewing.

When the President of Janome heard about the ministry, they decided to donate the four or five machines to the charity for these young girls.  That freed up some money for better housing and whatever else may be required.

This is not a solution to the sex trade, but turning options into opportunities is bettering our world.

I’m praying for them.  Throw up a prayer for those young women in need in Thailand.

Feel free to post your comments

And many blessings to you.

PS, we’ll hear more about what happened when they get back in August.

Well done, the trade in women is a modern slavery. It happens in every corner of the world praying on the poor. Here’s wishing your associates good luck.

I very much agree with you on that one.
